Data Matching and Accuracy

Accurate matching is the core skill of an effective database. We use sophisticated matching rules to help our customers find the matching file as the result of a credit enquiry.

We use a combination of factors to identify someone, including name, date of birth, addresses and drivers licence numbers (excluding NZ) to swiftly and accurately identify the person.

Some data companies may use looser match rules to gain higher match rates. Using loose match rules can expose customers and individuals to a range of serious issues that result from misidentification.

Accordingly, we use sophisticated matching algorithms to achieve very high matching accuracy.. This helps to protect our customers.

Matching techniques

Our matching capability is the most reliable in the market and is strengthened by our deep understanding of the Australian and New Zealand markets.

We use a combination of factors to identify someone, including name, date of birth, addresses and drivers licence numbers (excluding NZ) to identify the person swiftly and accurately.

If someone uses two or more sets of identity details to obtain credit, we hold a file for each identity and link them. We can locate and cross-reference new identities online and in real time. We use cross-referencing to help credit providers make informed decisions based on the person's complete credit history and identity information.

Wide coverage and detailed data

We have the most complete, accurate and powerful credit history database in Australia and New Zealand.

We have the largest number of credit files, and we also hold the largest amount of detailed information on each file.

We provide insights into more than:

  • 16.5 million credit active individuals
  • 4.4 million companies and businesses.

If the consumer, company, business or sole trader has been credit-active in the last five to seven years, we almost always have their information on file.

Currency

Current data is crucial for good decision making, so our data is updated as quickly as possible.

Credit providers submit credit and default information to us online, and this is uploaded to our database immediately. We receive and process more than 150,000 transactions every day, keeping our data extremely current.

We also load data from other external sources, normally within one working day from the time we receive it.
