The Housing Density Indicator is calculated after each census.
We calculate density by taking the number of households in each Census Collection District (CCD) divided by its total area (in square kilometres). For example, if there are 200 households in a CCD with a total area of 10 square km, the household density is 20 households per square km.
The Density Indicator ranks each CCD on a scale of 1 (high density) to 10 (low density).
You will require a valid residential address, postcode and State, with CCD's appended. If your database doesn't include CCD's for residential addresses, we can supply software to remedy this before you use the service.
You will receive information added to each matching customer record to show the Housing Density Indicator.
The price of appending the Housing Density Indicator to your database will depend on the volume of records you would like updated or whether you would like to license the variable for internal use and analysis. The Housing Density Indicator can also be purchased as a filter when selecting a target market for specific marketing campaigns.
A CCD is the base geographic boundary used by the Australian Bureau of Statistics to report on the Census. Each CCD contains about 200 - 250 households.
